HOLY CRAP! It's Been 2 Months

Wow, I never thought that time could fly so fast that 2 months would dissolve in a frenzy of resumes, interviews, insurance company assholes STILL spying on me and STILL NO JOB!!
I have been busting my ass trying to find a new career and nothing is happening. I found out that all a company has to do is put your last name and social security number in the Workers Compensation database and up pops all your information, even medical records which are supposed to be covered by HIPPA laws. Apparently, if a test or procedure related to a specific injury is mentioned on a medical report it is considered "public knowledge". God Damn. Another "BIG BROTHER" induced beureaucratic loophole. This stuff makes me sick.

Well it's been MORE than 2 months now. It's Christmas eve. Boy, I've been so busy with other stuff, that I have really neglected my beloved blog. Well all I can say is...................
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

This is what I want

Wow! I've Been Totally Negligent Here

I have been so busy trying to find a job that I haven't posted in a while. Well I haven't found anything yet, but I'm still in the hunt and have several prospects. I did find out that I am on the 2 year eligibility lis for the county job that I applied for. Yea! Hopefully someone will drop dead for me soon, so I can start working there. I somehow doubt that will happen though. But you never know.

I have found a new and exciting hobby that might just put the prospecting on hold for a while. Powered Paragling. I used to fly hang gliders and always hated carrying the damn thing back up the hill or breaking it down to transport it to the top and reassembling it. Now there is a new way to fly. Well, not exactly new. But the sport has made technological advances in recent years that have made it easier for the average guy (ME!) to get into it. So with my back injury behind me, ( my doctor released me MMI 2 weeks ago) I only have to wait for a few months for the settlement money to fill my coffers and I'll be on my way to training. Yes.....I can't wait to get back into the. I have attempted to get my private pilots license but after ground school and figuring the expenses, it would cost me on average $400/ month just to stay current. Too Much! The whole outfit for powered paragliding including training works out to less than $10 grand. After that it's just gas and engine tune-ups. For something that flies you around and breaks down and fits in the trunk of your car in 5 minutes, thats awesome. You can just pull over at a good looking field, unload and set up, and take off to fly around for a while, land put it away and that's it! What a way to fly! Huh! Here's a pic. Stay tuned.

Well, What Do You Know, I Just Might Have a Job...

Well., I have been negligent again in maintaining my blog.....Whip....whip...whine.......
4 Interviews in just over 2 weeks. Even in a good economy, and being healthy, that would be an amazing accomplishment. I got the nix on the fantastic job with the fantastic bennies. However, I did get a job. Without the "bitchs'" help , the lawyers help, the insurance companys' help, or anyone elses help. All bye myself. Self help. I never in my wildest imagination thought that I would ever apply for a job at a "big-box" store, but I did. AND.......they want to hire me......and pay me a LOT more $$$$ AND a LOT better BENEFITS and a LOT CLOSER (5 mins.) than my last job. OH MY!!! I think that I'll take 2! I am playing phone tag as we speak and am getting tired of it. Tomorrow I will make a house call and bypass the secretaries who have "misplaced" my return calls and messages. And the man that has hired me is , OF COURSE, a FELLOW MARINE! SEMPER FI! A good Marine is ALWAYS a good Marine. Period. He KNOWS that I will do the job, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. And do it well. Period. 'Nuff said. Time to move on.

Well They Finally Flew The Coop!

This is the last picture of the weeds. My little weeds have taken wing. They're gone with the wind. They made like a banana and split. Their mom called them to flight over the weekend. I'm sure they'll come back to have babies of their own. This was the 2nd year that we have had doves nesting. It was fun to watch them grow up. On to the business of the day. I haven't been out with either the detector or the pan for a while. The heat is just too much. However, we;re going to the ocean this weekend so I'm sure I'll be picking up a few goodies in the sand. At least I hope so. The job search is going well I think. I'm applying for everything I can think of that has to do with working in the construction field without wearing a tool belt. I hope it pans out. LOL! I made a funny. 'till tomorrow then. G'nite.

Survey Says.........

Well, I haven't kept up my blog. My last post was last week and I feel guilty. Hopefully I can redeem myself. Onward! I met with a "pain management" doctor on Friday. This is the guy who is supposed to take over my care and tell me what to do to get myself back to a decent job. Well after looking at me for about ten minutes and glancing at my records, he proceeds to tell me " where you're at is where you're at". Th...th...that's all folks! He doesn't think any further physical therapy or work hardening is going to be of any help to me. I'm always going to have this amount of pain and oh, I don't want to give you any prescriptions for the pain either. So live with it. " I am sending the report to the insurance company and your doctor and recommending that you be rated sedentary." Geezzzzshhhh. Thanks alot "Will Smith lookalike". That really helps me. See ya later, goodby. And here I am. Dazed and confused and wondering "WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW!???" At least he said it. My doctor doesn't tell me squat, except "get a job". Right, no prob. He says that "light duty is the same for me as it is for him". NOT! Good surgeon, lousy liar. And this Voc girl (remember, she has a Masters Degree) is trying to get me a job with the restrictions that are on my FCE report that give the restrictions AFTER work hardening, the stuff I am NOT getting now. Follow Hombre? Que!? Me too, still dazed and confused.

So to celebrate this misfortune I sent out nmerous resumes to all the right companies. Following the rules as a good little boy should. Just like unemployment, I have to write down all the calls, resumes sent, faxes, emails, etc. 10 of them required a week. Oh, don't forget all those interviews. Hey, don't laugh, I've already had one and it went great! The best benifits package that I've ever seen for a construction company. I will take this job even if I have to crawl to work, which by the way , is only 2 miles from my house! $550 a month gas and car allowance too! I'd be crazy not to take it. And they pay me a handsome salary as well. To be continued.

Here's the latest pic of the twins. I have been calling them the "weeds" because that's how they are growing. The big one sure looks cocky, doesn't he!?

Little Chicky Update and Maybe a New Job Too!

I had my first interview with the recruiter from "The Big Homebuilder" this morning. I couldn't hardly sleep last night. Boy, was I nervous. She was very accomadating and put me at ease immediately. After explaining the job and benefits (about an hour!) I was on my merry way home. Now she will foreward my resume up another notch and I'll probably have another interview next week. She was definitely impressed by my work history (she should be!) and told me that I was a very good candidate for the positions. Yes, plural. There are 3 open slots and all 3 are within 15 minutes from my house. AWESOME. The benefits package was the most comprehensive that I have ever seen. I'll take two!

On another note, my two chickies are growing by leaps and bounds. Here is another shot of them.

Luck 'O The Irish or.......Get A Job

Well, I have been visiting as many employment websites as possible in the last few days as I try to start a new career in "who knows what." I found an ad online for a town building inspector. That sounds right up my alley. Not alot of heavy, physical work. Something that I would be able to do an a day to day basis without breaking another part of my body (hopefully....LOL) So, as I was getting ready to fax off my resume and associated paperwork, I get a phone call from....one of the largest construction companies in the U S of A! They got my resume off of one of the websites. Well to make a long story short, I have an interview next Wednesday. The job is also only about 3 miles from my house. This company is considered one of the best employers in the industry. If you go on vacation (2 weeks paid the 1st year!) they have guest houses around the country that you can stay in....free! Awesome. Hope I don't screw it up. I know I'l probably be as nervous as a virgin on prom night. The benefits are better than any I have ever had, or for that matter, ever seen. Hopefully I can do the job physically. I guess I"ll see on Wednesday. I'll keep you posted, my faithful readership!

1st Chicky Hatches!

I just had a feeling that she was ready to pop! A picture really is worth a thousand words. Oh what a pretty baby.

One For The Birds

Well the flakes are still coming a few at a time. It's harder than I thought it would be, that's for sure. But what the hell, basically it's free gold. You don't get that very often now, do you?! Nope. "Money ain't for nothin and the chicks for free" Speaking of chicks, while watering the plants on the deck, I spotted a cute little dove. Yup, too late. She made a nest and had already laid 2 little white eggs. It's been about 3 weeks now and she's used to us being out there. She's not moving today so I think the eggs are hatching. It ought to be interesting to watch. There's too much death and destruction going on in the world today, so a few little feathered lives should be neat to observe for a while. Here's a pic of mom. She's got a pretty good camoflage job there huh! We're off to another location that I've been wanting to hit for a while on Saturday. Hill country. I'm taking an educated guess that there's some gold with my name on it up there. Now, how to do a little panning without drawing too much attention? It's a pretty popular spot with the tubing crowd. Hopefully they won't pay too much attention to me. Oh well, I'll take some pics anyhow. L8R all.
